EXPLORING the FUTURE OF CITIES

Newsha Ghaeli is exploring the future of cities through the transformative power of technology. She is a Research Associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she is Project Lead at the Senseable City Laboratory and Instructor in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning. Her work investigates the creative application of sensors in urban systems to build responsive, resilient, and efficient cities. 

Newsha has collaborated on work with the World Economic Forum's Council on the Future of Cities, the United Nations Climate Change Summit, the United States Department of Energy, and consulted for the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KA-CARE) and the American Samoan government on tsunami resilient communities. In 2016, Newsha was selected by the World Economic Forum as a Global Shaper: a group of leaders under the age of 30 charged with catalyzing social change in their communities.
